Home to the University of Dayton Flyers men’s and women’s basketball programs, the University of Dayton Arena was opened in 1969 and renovated in 2002. Since then, the Arena had fallen behind the more modern facilities and amenities found on campuses of competing NCAA institutions. In 2015, the university began design on a massive renovation and expansion of the arena. The project, which was split into three phases to allow for occupancy during construction, was completed over a three-year timeline from 2017 to 2019.

New seating throughout, a reconfigured upper bowl and renovated press and support spaces are key components of the renovation, while the existing, disconnected concourse was expanded to allow for 360-degree circulation and access. New restrooms, concessions and club spaces were also provided, and a new ticketing and team store lobby anchors the southwest corner of the Arena.

Basketball fans entering from the southeast will now come through a new lobby facing Edwin C. Moses Boulevard. Ticketing and a new team store are now housed adjacent to the new lobby, and an expanded concourse with new bathrooms now sweeps around the arena. While significantly enhancing the gameday experience for fans, players and operators alike, the state-of-the-art facility serves as a powerful recruiting tool for the men’s and women’s basketball programs. The completion of the renovation and expansion also allows the university to continue hosting NCAA Tournament contests, creating a strong revenue stream for the Flyers.
