The Chicago Park District’s new Gately Indoor Track & Field at Gately Park is a world-class sports complex and a year-round community center for wellness, culture and after-school programming.
The facility further enhances recreational and competitive event opportunities in Chicago’s Pullman and Roseland communities and surrounding neighborhoods. The project features the area’s first hydraulically banked 200-meter track. Community members advocated for this indoor track for more than three decades.
Natural light from all four walls flood the track volume. Rigging was provided so that additional lighting can be brought in to allow for high-definition telecasts of events in the space.
Community offerings beyond track and field amenities include a fitness center, family restrooms and multipurpose rooms. The multipurpose rooms are programmed for a variety of activities, from arts and crafts to workshops and lectures, and a kitchenette is available for wellness programming and park camps. The building can easily host 700-plus patrons for non-track-and-field events.
Since opening in July 2020, Gately Indoor Track & Field at Gately Park has gained recognition as the premier facility for track-and-fieldtraining in Chicago and the Midwest. The Chicago Park District and ASM Global have been hard at work connecting with the community and attracting local and national talent — while also developing a wide variety of programs for all ages.
