The Fountain View Recreation Center offers residents of Carol Stream a vibrant, energized facility that provides indoor recreation opportunities for patrons of all ages. All program rooms have a clear connection to the surrounding park setting, while the center’s transparency offers interplay between program spaces. The first level features the gymnasium, natatorium and supporting locker rooms, a childcare area, a facility administration office suite, a catering kitchen, and several program/multipurpose rooms. The second level features the main fitness area with dramatic views to the pool and gymnasium below, as well as the adjacent park.

A welcoming interior space combines traditional materials such as brick and stone with glass and steel. Neutral colors and patterns create a warm and inviting backdrop, while bright accents of color are used in the fitness and program rooms to enhance the occupants’ experience. Custom graphics further promote healthy living and wellness.

Due to the multiuse nature of the facility, linoleum flooring made of renewable raw materials was specified to withstand the programming changes. Carpet tiles were used for ease of replacement, and ceramic tile appears in areas where cleaning ease is a top priority. The center’s exterior architecture embraces the community’s history by the traditional use of brick and stone.
