Betsy Price Community Center

Located in Northwest Community Park, the Betsy Price Community Center is Fort Worth’s newest community center, serving a rapidly growing and underserved part of the city. As the last project developed from a 2018 bond package, the center was already underfunded due to inflation, and planners did not fully anticipate the scale of site development costs for a remote 250-acre, mostly undeveloped park. 

An in-depth site study to define those costs included floodplain and drainage analysis, which established the budget for a vehicular access bridge coordinated with the bordering elevated state highway under reconstruction. Extensive utility extensions were another significant item to be vetted and budgeted. Once the total site development costs were determined, the city could justify the funding needed to complete the project while maintaining the intended 20,000-square-foot building scope. The study also included architectural programming, budgeting and conceptual design to deliver the new center as affordably as possible. 

The resulting facility is a vibrant hub for the Fort Worth community, offering programs and activities for all ages. The park setting supports both indoor and outdoor recreation. Indoor amenities include a hardwood court space, a fitness room and a culinary kitchen, as well as multipurpose rooms for birthday parties, meetings and special events. The center also hosts youth sports, an after-school program and Camp Fort Worth. 

Completed in 2025, the project is named for Betsy Price, Fort Worth’s recently retired long-time mayor and a champion for health, fitness and quality-of-life initiatives.
