Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center

Construction Cost: $20 million
Area / Square Feet: 121,321
Occupancy Date: October 2008

With the Bridge Fitness Center, Centegra Health System is embarking on the development of a new healthcare campus within the growing community of Huntley. The facility is situated in a heavily trafficked area and reflects the design of a neighboring building.

Sustainable landscaping strategies in place include the use of bioswales, pervious pavement and drought-tolerant plants. Walking, jogging and bike paths meander through the site and connect the building’s various programs to the broader context of the surrounding trails.

The first floor consists of the main lobby, a natatorium, locker rooms, group exercise studios and court areas. The physical therapy space, though connected to the main facility, is generally served by its own entrance. The second floor includes a jogging track and exercise equipment.

Glass is used in priority areas to take advantage of views either into or out of the center. Other materials used include terra cotta, concrete panels and architectural precast concrete.
