Home to UCLA basketball since 1965, Pauley Pavilion has become an epicenter for world-class athletes, legendary personalities and record-breaking wins. Its iconic truss-style architecture has further boosted the arena’s reputation, making Pauley Pavilion one of the most recognized arenas in the world.
In 2008, a renovation and addition to Pauley Pavilion was intended to preserve the achievements of Pauley’s past while ensuring an updated infrastructure and expanded amenities to attract a new generation of student-athletes and sports fans.
The design includes an exterior glass concourse with natural light and room for restrooms, concessions and merchandise sales; a revamped seating bowl with tilt-up seats, room for 1,000 additional fans and better views of the court; a Pavilion Club that accommodates up to 300 guests with food and bar service; and new men’s and women’s locker rooms, court flooring, scoreboards and media spaces.
Because of Pauley’s location on a tight urban site, there was limited room to expand horizontally and no ability to go upward. Architects designed a new two-level facility under Bruin Walk that provides the necessary square footage for locker rooms, team spaces and the Pavilion Club.
For the first time in Pauley history, there is also a direct connection between locker rooms and the court.
