Warren Community Center Gains Control, Consistency and Peace of Mind

The Warren Community Center, located in Warren, Michigan, is a hub for recreation, wellness, and community engagement, serving residents of all ages. The facility features a wide range of amenities, including fitness areas, gymnasiums, multipurpose rooms, and a comprehensive aquatics center with an indoor pool, lap lanes, swimming lessons, and water‑based programs that operate year‑round. As a highly utilized public facility, maintaining safe, consistent water quality is critical to both daily operations and community trust.

For Adriana Wilk, Aquatics Supervisor at the Warren Community Center, maintaining that level of safety and consistency had become increasingly difficult. Aging chlorination equipment—more than 20 years old—required constant attention, frequent cleaning, and still struggled to maintain proper chlorine levels. With limited staff and no remote monitoring capabilities, Adriana and her team were forced into reactive, manual maintenance that consumed a significant portion of each day.

Before upgrading, staff had to manually test water hourly to stay ahead of potential issues, and the hot tub needed to be drained, scrubbed, and refilled up to three times per week due to foaming problems. Cleaning the old chlorinators was not only difficult, but also unpleasant, exposing staff to chlorine gas that irritated their noses. Adriana estimates that she spent roughly 25% of her time dealing with maintenance issues alone.

To address these challenges, the Warren Community Center selected a complete ProMinent solution, including DCM 5 packages, Concept pumps, ProCal SV, and DULCODES A UV. The decision was strongly influenced by the team’s relationship with Baruzzini Aquatics, who clearly explained how the ProMinent solutions would work together to solve their operational problems. Remote access to the controller, self‑cleaning ProCal operation, and the ability to manage cycles from home were key differentiators.

The results were immediate and impactful. Maintenance requirements dropped dramatically, chemical levels stabilized, and the hot tub now only needs to be drained once per week. Most importantly, Adriana can monitor and resolve issues remotely—eliminating unnecessary trips to the facility and restoring balance to her workday.

“I am on call 24/7 and have two young children. When I was called in for an issue, I had to get them ready and out the door to come with me, which was difficult. Now, I can check on and resolve most issues remotely. Seeing the controller prove that chlorine and pH levels are stabilized was such a relief — it showed me the system was really working," said Adriana Wilk, Aquatics Supervisor, Warren Community Center.

Today, time spent on maintenance has dropped from approximately 25% to less than 1%, freeing Adriana to focus on supporting patrons and staff. The controller’s data logging also provides documented proof of water quality, offering protection when customer concerns arise. Adriana describes her overall experience as “very good,” noting that the system is easy to use and that installation, startup, and training support from Baruzzini Aquatics were excellent. These results have led to budgeting for the replacement of the remaining existing water treatment equipment with ProMinent solutions.
