Facility Friday: Golisano Training Center, Babson College Recreation and Athletics Complex and More

Nazareth College in New York opened its new Golisano Training Center to the campus community this week. The 108,000-square-foot facility unites the college, Special Olympics and the Golisano Foundation in a space that models inclusion, fitness and wellness. Components include an indoor track, field, courts, training and fitness space for the college’s students, faculty and staff, and also serves as a training and competition space for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Developed in partnership with design firm LaBella Associates, the facility is the first of its kind in the region with a specific focus on inclusion and engagement of the special needs community. The Golisano Training Center will host a grand opening event in October.

Babson College this week unveiled its Babson Recreation and Athletics Complex. Designed CambridgeSeven, the 75,000-square-foot addition nearly doubles the size of the school’s existing athletics facilities, and includes amenities such as a 10,000-square-foot, two story fitness center complete with cardio and strength training equipment, two multipurpose rooms for fitness classes, a three-court gymnasium, upgraded locker rooms for varsity athletics, and a state-of-the-art sports medicine space. — BabsonAthletics.com Babson Recreation and Athletics Complex [Photo courtesy CambridgeSeven]Babson Recreation and Athletics Complex [Photo courtesy CambridgeSeven]

Cornell University is seeking approval from the Town of Ithaca planning board for an expansion to its wrestling center. The proposed plans, designed by Moody Nolan Architects, call for a 5,500-square-foot expansion, which will feature amenities such as locker rooms, a practice gym, fitness space, a film room and more. — The Ithaca Voice

North Carolina State University held a dedication ceremony for its redesigned and renovated Albright Sports Medicine Center at the Wendell Murphy Football Center at Carter-Finley Stadium. The 6,000-square-foot space offers state-of-the-art amenities such as a “vision therapy” area, new hydrotherapy space, updated exam rooms and a new steam room. — GoPack.com
