CBS Sports reports that after knotting things up at 78 with 36 seconds left, Norfolk’s Mastadi Pitt sunk a pair of free throws with 2.1 seconds left to provide the Spartans with the final edge. That’s when things got out of hand.

Video of the incident was posted on Twitter, and appears to involve not only players from both teams, but fans and coaches as well.

It’s unclear what may have sparked the fight, but the website HBCU Gameday reports that the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference was swift to take disciplinary action. Six players, three from each squad, were suspended for one game each for violating league rules on sportsmanship.

Among the suspended athletes are Jordan Butler, Kyonze Chavis and Nic Thomas for Norfolk State, and Princewill Anosike, Jalen Jones and Andre Toure’ for Howard.
