- A high school in Rich County made the decision to drop it's long-standing rebel soldier mascot due to national controversy. Later this week, fierce opinions were expressed over sports teams' use of Native American emblems.
- Three UCLA student-athletes were arrested while abroad in China on charges of shoplifting from Louis-Vuitton. The players were released on bail, but are being kept at their hotel in Hangzhou. A parent of one of the players was recently quoted saying the charges "ain't that big a deal."
- On Tuesday, four NCAA coaches were indicted by a grand jury on charges relating to the recruitment corruption scandal. Former University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino was named in a federal indictment against Adidas for having participated in a bribery scheme, while an estranged friend publicly accused former Memphis coach Josh Pastner of offering extra benefits to recruits.
