The University of Arizona is planning to renovate athletic facilities following the completion of the 2018 sports season. Facilities included in the renovation project include Arizona Stadium, Hillenbrand Stadium, Hillenbrand Aquatic Center and McKale Center, as part of the school’s $66 million capital improvement plan. Arizona Stadium will see improvements to its lower-east concourse, including new restrooms and concessions areas. Hillenbrand Stadium, home of the school’s softball program, will get an upgraded press box and seating area. The Hellenbrand Aquatic Center will expand its 50-meter pool to 65 meters, and upgrade pump infrastructure. The McKale Center will see new locker rooms and an improved lower concourse. —Tucson.com

The Los Angeles Athletic Club recently completed phase two of a $10 million renovation. The latest renovation includes an upgraded women’s locker room, featuring showers, a jacuzzi and steam and sauna areas, as well as a quiet room with lounge chairs and blanket warmers. The renovation also includes the surfer-inspired Kahuna Room, which will host the new women’s networking and personal coaching club called The Wave. —Press Release
The University of North Georgia this week held a ribbon cutting on its new 103,000-square-foot Convocation Center. The $37.4 million project hosts a variety of campus events, including commencements, athletic events, concerts and more. The facility features seating for 3,600 for athletic events, including 1,900 fixed and 1,350 retractable seats and telescopic bleachers for 350 spectators that can retract for a two-court arrangement. The facility also has classrooms and labs throughout, and will serve as the home for the school’s kinesiology department. —Press Release
Alvin (Texas) Independent School District is slated to debut a new, $41 million football stadium later this summer. Dubbed Freedom Field, the facility was financed as part of a $245 million school bond package that voters approved in 2015. The stadium will feature two locker rooms, and seating for up to 12,000.
