Facility Friday: FC Cincinnati, Minnesota Golf Facility

MLS-bound FC Cincinnati announced its plans to build a new team training complex in Milford, Ohio. Pending approvals from local government entities, the team has contracted MSA Sport to design the $30 million project. The facility will include three full-size soccer fields (one synthetic turf, two natural grass), and buildings for the MLS team, FCC Academy teams and maintenance. The MLS team building will include locker rooms, athletic training and sports performance areas, a player lounge, a dining facility, team meeting rooms, media work space and offices. — FCCincinnati.com

The University of Houston announced that the newly renovated Fertitta Center (formerly Hofheinz Pavillion) will make its debut with a men’s basketball game against Oregon on Dec. 1. The $60 million renovation project includes a raised playing surface, 2,000 new premium seats, upgraded scoreboards and sound systems, and improved locker rooms. —UHCougars.com

The University of Southern Mississippi is set to begin building a new home for its women’s volleyball program. The $6 million, 28,000-square-foot facility will be both the practice and competition space for the program, and feature locker rooms, training rooms and meeting rooms. The facility will also be used for university-affiliated and community events, such as classes, meetings, camps and seminars. — WDAM

The University of Minnesota held a groundbreaking ceremony last week on a new indoor golf training facility. The building will serve both the men’s and women’s golf programs, and will feature heated indoor hitting bays and indoor greens for putting and chipping practice. It will also include locker rooms, coaches offices and lounge space. — gophersports.com

The shared stadium being built for the NFL’s Rams and Chargers franchises reached a major construction milestone this week when the final beam was installed in a topping out ceremony. The stadium is one part of a larger project dubbed the Los Angeles Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park, which will span 298 acres and cost nearly $5 billion. The stadium will seat 70,000, but have the ability to expand to 100,000, and is expected to cost nearly $3 billion on its own. — ESPN.com
