There are multiple projects set to begin at Delaware State University to improve and update the Hornets' athletics facilities.
The athletics department is planning improved locker rooms for football, women’s lacrosse, and women’s soccer,, as well as an athletics welcome house, a football meeting space and lounge, women’s golf simulator and indoor space renovations at the Downtown campus.
A new grandstand for Alumni Stadium, which has remained largely unchanged since its opening in 1957, is also on the agenda.
University officials said other athletic facilities could be added to the multilayered plan in the near future.
More projects:Â
- Troy University in Alabama is expecting to show off its new stadium video board next week. The new LED board at Riddle-Pace Field will not only be able to keep score, but it will display pitch speed, live video, instant replays and highlight videos, as well as have a new sound system.
- New Wolf Pack baseball locker rooms have been announced at the University of Nevada. Work on the facility will begin in the summer of 2024 and be called the Tom Dolan Locker Room.
- In downtown Silver Spring, Md., the Silver Spring Recreation & Aquatic Center is set to open Feb. 24. The nearly 120,000-square-foot facility has three pools, a community center, a fitness center and a gym. The Montgomery County Sports Hall of Fame will also be located within the complex and will feature a larger-than-life sculpture of Olympic gold medalist and native Silver Spring athlete Dominique Dawes.
