The San Antonio Missions are expected to have a new ballpark built in downtown San Antonio by April 2028, according to a letter from Bexar County and the City of San Antonio to Major League Baseball.

In the letter dated July 22, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai and San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg said they have been working with the Missions’ owners to develop a plan to build the stadium.

In November 2022, the team was purchased by a group led by former Rackspace CEO Graham Weston. Following the sale, the City of San Antonio approved a new lease for the team, which runs until 2031. [KSAT]

Gold's Gym, the growing iconic fitness brand, has unveiled its newly renovated gym in the Hamilton Mill area, created in the image of its legendary original location, The Mecca in Venice Beach.

The 24,800-square-foot gym at 1250 Auburn Road in Dacula is owned by franchisee Koran Winters, who purchased it in 2023. Winters has plans to grow the brand's footprint in the Atlanta area, with one new gym opening planned per year over the next seven to eight years.

"Gold's Gym represents a growth opportunity with an iconic brand and leader in the fitness space," said Winters. "I've been a Gold's Gym fan since I was a member as a teen, and I love the direction the brand is taking with its new gyms. I look forward to bringing the Gold's legacy back to the Atlanta area in a big way."

The updated gym now has a legacy-inspired, all-new look and feel with brick walls and wooden accents, best-in-class gym80 equipment and a reproduction of The Mecca's famous green wall. [PR Newswire]

The new aquatic centre being built in High River got underway this week. Fencing has now been erected around the back west parking area of the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

Some equipment has also been brought in as they prepare to expand the current swimming pool area.

If you're wondering about any closures for the pool or the facilities, everything will be open, but you can expect some interruptions along the way.

High River's Town Council voted to move forward with the Aquatics Facility Expansion on July 8 this year after two years of planning.

The new Aquatics Centre isn't expected to be completed until early 2026. [High River Online]
