Development Group Announces Plans for Soccer Stadium at Syracuse's Inner Harbor
A private development group has notified public officials that they hope to lure a professional soccer team to Syracuse by building a new stadium at the Syracuse Inner Harbor.
The group also wants to build a complex of roughly 10 playing fields at a separate location to be a hub for traveling youth tournaments and training programs.
Leaders of the effort, including a former U.S. Soccer Federation executive and several high-profile business owners, caution that the project is still at an early stage, with key details yet to be worked out.
New Details Emerge on Kansas City Royals' New $1.9B Stadium
New city records shed more light on how Crown Center, the proposed future home for a Royals baseball stadium, could be redesigned and redeveloped as part of plans for a sports and entertainment district.
On Monday, North Kansas City-based engineering firm Olsson applied for rezoning several Crown Center properties as an urban redevelopment district. Urban redevelopment zoning is aimed at flexibility while setting standards to guide future development and what can be built in underdeveloped areas.
The rezoning would be another procedural step toward making the Royals’ and Hallmark’s plans to bring a $1.9 billion baseball stadium to Crown Center a reality as part of a broader $3 billion mixed-use development plan.
University of Utah Mills Major Renovation of Jon M. Hunstman Center
The University of Utah has begun a process to explore the possibility of a major renovation of the Jon M. Huntsman Center, and fans will have their opportunity to provide input through an online survey beginning this week.
Utah has chosen Populous and VCBO Architecture to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to explore an exciting range of options to modernize and transform the historic arena where Utah fans have experienced some of the most memorable moments in Utes athletics history. The study also will assess structural integrity, seismic resiliency and the infrastructure necessary to support future generations of student-athletes, fans and community events.
The feasibility study represents an important step in the exploration of options for the 57-year-old facility. Those options were presented to the University of Utah's Board of Trustees in February 2026 as part of updates on President Taylor Randall's vision for "College Town Magic," which aspires to transform the heart of the institution's campus. The Huntsman Center's location is a focal point of the College Town Magic footprint, and decisions related to the future of the arena are vital to the final designs of that development.
