A massive $850 million sports empire is making its play for Southern California, with a sprawling 190-acre complex packed with more than 40 fields set to open its gates Saturday.
The Ontario Sports Empire is billed as the largest youth sports destination west of the Rocky Mountains, bringing a sprawling lineup of baseball, softball, soccer, football and rugby facilities to the Inland Empire.
The complex boasts 20 multipurpose fields, 14 youth baseball diamonds and eight full-size baseball and softball fields, along with two championship baseball diamonds and four football and rugby fields.
UMass Unveils New Bill Riley Champions Lounge
"The dedication of the Billy Riley Champions Lounge is a special moment for UMass Lowell Athletics and a fitting tribute to a coach whose impact on this university extends far beyond the ice," said Director of Athletics Lynn Coutts. "This space will allow us to celebrate the incredible history of all our champions here at Lowell, while also serving as a reminder of what we can accomplish together as student-athletes, alumni, fans and supporters moving forward. We're proud to honor Coach Riley's legacy in a way that will connect generations of River Hawks for years to come."
Life Time Opens 128K-Square-Foot Luxury Athletic Club in Las Vegas
A luxury fitness chain known for big health clubs with expansive offerings — and high prices — is close to opening another Las Vegas outpost.
Minnesota-based Life Time plans to open its new facility in the southwest valley, across from Ikea, in December. This marks its third athletic club in Southern Nevada.
During a tour of the under-construction complex in late September, Life Time management told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that more than 10,000 people had joined the waitlist and that monthly membership rates would start at around $350.
They also said there would be a $200 initiation fee but noted they expected this to climb.
Life Time’s three-story, 128,000-square-foot facility at the southeast corner of Sunset Road and Durango Drive occupies a 15-acre plot where a never-built high-rise complex left a giant hole in the ground for years.
