VILLAGE OF PEWAUKEE - Thanks to the teamwork between a local church and the Pewaukee Park and Recreation Department, a village park will get new playground equipment
Village board members approved the Pewaukee Park and Recreation Department's request to spend $3,860 to do its part, along with Gethsemane United Methodist Church, to replace playground equipment at Valley Forge Park.
The Pewaukee Park and Recreation Department will remove the old equipment and prep the site for the new equipment. It will put in playground timbers, playground chips and an access ramp.
The church committed $10,936 toward the new playground equipment, which will be installed by Lee Enterprises, the playground equipment vendor. Installation is expected to begin in September.
"The board was very appreciative of the partnership with Gethsemane," said Village Administrator Scott Gosse . "It's been a good partnership from the beginning."
The partnership between the village and the church in the past has included block parties that the church has held every September. It also hosted a playground program in summer 2016 and sponsored and constructed a wood pavilion. The church also plans to commit to improving the playground over the next several years by expanding on the new playground installation.
