Sterling Heights, Mich., recently celebrated the grand opening of its new $24 million community center. The 98,000-square-foot recreation center, designed by George J. Renovations are underway at Xavier University’s O’Connor Sports Complex. The school held a wall breaking ceremony for work on the renovation that will transform the facility into the Heidt Family Champions Center. The facility will serve Xavier’s olympic sports teams, including baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, cross country and track and field. The $14 million renovation includes amenities such as new locker rooms, a strength and conditioning room, a multipurpose turf training space, coaches offices, meeting rooms and more. —XavierNewswire.com
