An autopsy is scheduled today for a fan who fell over a railing Tuesday night at Wrigley Field and died Wednesday afternoon.
Richard Garrity, 42, had watched the Chicago Cubs host the Cincinnati Reds in a game that ended at 10:20 p.m. Garrity, a 42-year-old marketing manager at Heineken, attended with his wife as part of a work outing. According to a statement released by the Cubs, Garrity was leaving the ballpark at the time of the incident. He reportedly fell over a railing and landed on his head, but as of this writing no details were available as to the location of the railing or its height, or how far down Garrity fell.

Built in 1914, Wrigley Field is the second-oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball behind Boston's Fenway Park (1912). "The thoughts and prayers of our entire organization are with his family during this difficult time," the Cubs' statement read.
Garrity's father, who was babysitting Richard's 9-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son, told the Chicago Tribune that Richard's wife was not present at the time of the incident and that she had tried to call Garrity after the game.
Garrity, a Wheaton, Ill., resident and lifelong Cubs fan, was transported by private ambulance to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:33 p.m. Wednesday.
