Iona College announced that it would renovate the Hynes Athletics Center, home to the school’s basketball and volleyball programs. Washington State this week released initial drawings for a future baseball facility, which will be located within the same footprint as the current Bialey-Brayton Field. Robert Morris University unveiled its new UPMC Events Center last week. The facility offers a 4,000-seat arena for basketball and volleyball, improved strength and conditioning facilities, locker rooms and a practice court. Rice University approved plans for a multipurpose air-supported facility that will serve athletics, recreation and campus and community events. The 80,000-square-foot project will include an Astroturf playing surface and provide a climate-controlled space for athletics adjacent to Rice Stadium. Ball State University’s board of trustees this week approved plans for a $15 million privately-funded indoor practice facility. The 84,000-square-foot facility will serve the school’s football, soccer, baseball and softball programs. Plans call for a synthetic turf surface and a regulation-sized competition field, with a ceiling height of 65 feet. Retractable netting, batting cages and storage will provide each program with the necessary amenities for practices. The school is targeting summer 2021 for opening. — ballstatesports.com

The University of Notre Dame this week dedicated the newly renovated Rolfs Athletic Hall, the practice facility for the school’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. The 77,000-square-foot facility features team rooms, locker rooms, and video review rooms for both programs. The lower level offers nutrition space, a sports medicine facility with two hydrotherapy tubs (one hot, one cold), a strength and conditioning center and separate practice gyms, while the upper level has a shared reception area, coaches offices, and kitchen space. — news.nd.edu
