The University of Georgia on Wednesday approved beer sales inside Sanford Stadium beginning this fall.

According to 11 Alive, the decision was made at the UGA Athletic Association's annual meeting and come five years after the SEC lifted its ban on alcohol sales at conference events.

Georgia and Auburn were the final two SEC holdouts on alcohol sales to the general public at football games. Auburn has not officially announced whether it will begin selling alcohol this fall.

According to The Athletic, LSU was the first school to sell beer at football games back in 2019 and reported more than $2 million in net revenue for that season. Tennessee reported more than $3.3 million in beer sales over the court of the 2022 season.

Georgia already allows alcohol sales at other events but sales at non-football events has only been around $230,000 during the 2021-22 season.
