Police have confirmed that a 19-year-old man drowned in a lake outside SoFi Stadium on Feb. 2, making him the second person to drown in the lake since 2022.

The man, whose name has not been released, was at the venue for a sold-out dance music concert by musician DJ Illenium.

The Inglewood Police Department said in a press release that security workers at the concert saw the man enter the lake around 9:30 p.m. and he "went underwater and did not resurface."

Emergency crews began a search and rescue operation, and divers from the Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department, along with a lifeguard team from the L.A. County Fire Department searched for the man with the help of a helicopter and drone.

Authorities recovered the man's body from the lake shortly before 11 p.m. and attempted to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this devastating incident,” police said in the press release.

This was the second reported drowning in the lake outside SoFi Stadium.

According to the New York Post, a 47-year-old man was trespassing on the property back in July of 2022 when he drowned.

Inglewood mayor James Butts said during a press conference that the man waded into the 15-foot-deep lake, swam to the middle and never resurfaced.
