As T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., prepares to host the NCAA men’s hockey championships, the Frozen Four, facility operators will be covering up the arena’s sponsorship signage.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, T-Mobile Arena’s usual sponsorship advertisements will be covered up and replaced by the NCAA’s advertisers for the Frozen Four hockey tournament in line with the NCAA’s clean venue policy.
“Through our NCAA Corporate Champion and Corporate Partners Program, our partners, the companies provide direct and positive impact on both our academic and development opportunities that we provide to our student athletes,” Anthony Holman, vice president of championships at the NCAA said. “They pay good dollars to do that, and it’s really important for us to both protect those; the value that they see in our brand and having an affiliation with us, but also being very careful about what signage or what appears some may think appears in our championships to get an impression that there’s somehow some affiliation with the association.”
The changes will apply to logos in the seating areas, digital assets, including video boards and ribbon displays, and any area visible to the television broadcast. NCAA sponsors such as Capital One, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Powerade and Marriott Bonvoy will be shown on in-stadium advertising in place of T-Mobile Arena’s standard advertising partners.
Advertisers' sponsorships will remain in place on the exterior of the arena.
The Frozen Four kicks off on Thursday, April 9, and includes the University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin, University of North Dakota and University of Denver.
