Former Athletic Trainer Suspended Over Abuse

The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts has indefinitely suspended the license of an athletic trainer accused of abusing a student.

The board suspended Brandon Martino’s license on June 21. Martino was arrested back in January and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and promoting obscenity in minors.

According to a joint consent order provided to the board, Martino was treating a minor student when he began sending the student explicit text messages, including a video of himself masturbating. Martino sent the messages while acting as the student’s athletic trainer.

Martino did not admit to any wrongdoing, but he also did not provide the board with “evidence in opposition” to the accusations, according to The Mercury.

In lieu of a formal proceeding, the KSBHA said Martino agreed to the indefinite suspension to practice as an athletic trainer within the state.
