- This week, the internet, particularly #VolTwitter, caught fire when news broke that the University of Tennessee was close to hiring Greg Schiano as its next football coach. The backlash ultimately led Tennessee to back out of the deal. Some are debating whether that was a good thing, or indicative of a culture run amok.
- Relatedly, John Currie was fired as Tennessee’s athletic director this morning.
- A faculty group at the University of San Diego proposed a non-binding resolution to ban the school’s football program, citing “danger to students.” The resolution was ultimately defeated.
