Ahead of their home opener on Tuesday, the Red Wings unveiled their new indoor training facility Monday.
“The Red Wings Performance Center” features new batting cages and the latest technology designed to help players perfect their swing. This state-of-the-art-facility also includes a large training room equipped with weights and treadmills.
“We have built and outfitted a state-of-the-art facility with what our players need to get them to their ultimate goal of playing in the big leagues,” said Red Wings President and CEO Naomi Silver.
Silver also mentioned that players and coaches, who arrived last week, feel the facility ranks among the best in professional baseball.
The new facility meets Major League Baseball requirements, with these improvements coming from a $26 million investment from Monroe County and the state. [News 10]
Rocklin officials said "play ball" last week with approval of a new indoor baseball/softball school in the city.
The Rocklin Planning Commission approved a permit March 18 for the Swing Hard Baseball Training Facility at 3845 Atherton Road. Swing Hard is in Stanford Business Park, also known as Atherton Tech Center, constructed 1988.
The space is about 2,700 square feet of a 17,000 square-foot building with seven suites. Other tenants include office, storage contractors and a vocational school for adults with developmental disabilities. Operating hours will be Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
"None of the existing uses require significant parking, and most of these are only in operation Monday through Friday during normal business hours," Rocklin Senior Planner Nathan Anderson said in the report.
By appointment only, Swing Hard will offer personalized, one-on-one baseball training and instruction, staff said. No walk-in customers will be accepted, and the business office will serve as a drop-off/check-in area. [Gold Country Media]
