The nomination period, originally setto close on November 30, has been extended through December16 in response to numerous requests.

The nomination period, originally setto close on November 30, has been extended through December16 in response to numerous requests.
"Most of the year we concentrate on the unacceptable numberof lives lost due to this preventable tragedy," said KimBurgess, NDPA executive director. "So it's wonderful tofocus on those whose heroic actions prevented a tragedy.These inspiring stories will remind us all that one personcan make an enormous difference in the world."
Nominators should visithttps://www.facebook.com/NationalDrowningPreventionAlliance,click the "Lifesaver of the Year" contest tab on the leftand upload a photo and essay about the nominee. The essayshould detail the nominee's heroism in a water-relatedincident. Lifeguards, first responders or laypersons may benominated.
The winner will receive an all-expense paid trip for two toSan Diego, California, where he or she will be honored atthe 11th Annual National Drowning Prevention Symposium setfor March 7-10, 2012. For more information, or to registerfor the symposium please visit http://www.NDPA.org.
