Lancaster, PA (July, 2 2014) – Mark Giuranna, Regional Director for ECORE, recently led a roundtable discussion on sustainable flooring surfaces at the Collegiate Sports Sustainability Summit at the University of Colorado, Boulder. More than 150 participants attended the event, which included sustainability experts from colleges and universities throughout America. The purpose of the roundtable discussion was to share insights on the newest sustainable products on the market.
Giuranna focused on educating his audience on sustainable surfacing options and new technologies available for the manufacturing of environmentally safe athletic surfaces. “The main buzz of the discussion was centered on LEED points associated with transformed rubber and ECORE’s patent pending itstru technology,” said Guiranna. “Everyone was excited to hear that aesthetics and performance don’t have to be sacrificed when using athletic surfacing created from recycled rubber.”
ECORE is a company that transforms reclaimed waste into unique performance surfacing. As America’s largest consumer of recycled scrap-tire rubber, ECORE transforms more than 65 million pounds of material each year into flooring.
ECORE will be launching a new brand, ECORE Athletic, in July, which is defined by performance and driven by safety, specifically for athletes. “Triple Threat was by far the biggest hit of all the ECORE Athletic product offerings,” said Giuranna. This product features a vinyl wear layer that looks like real wood and is engineered with a 5-millimeter Assist Base Layer that is made out of 98 percent recycled rubber.
