San Ramon, Calif. – October 20, 2014 – 24 Hour Fitness is once again reaffirming its position as a fitness industry leader and innovator with the addition of LES MILLS GRIT® at more than 200 locations nationwide this December. LES MILLS GRIT is a series of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) programs designed to transform participants’ fitness levels with intense, 30-minute sessions.

“LES MILLS GRIT is a great workout.  High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is the hottest fitness trend right now. LES MILLS GRIT fills an important void in the fitness marketplace for an intense, express workout that helps to achieve results quickly. We can’t wait to introduce it to our members,” said Lashaun Dale, Group Fitness Vice President, 24 Hour Fitness.

LES MILLS GRIT is the newest group fitness program from Les Mills International, the creator of the immensely popular BODYPUMP® and BODYCOMBAT® group fitness classes. Featuring three unique workouts – cardio, strength and plyometrics – each LES MILLS GRIT class is developed by a world-class development team of leading sports physiotherapists and medical professionals.

  • LES MILLS GRIT CARDIO – Designed to burn fat and rapidly improve athletic capability, this cardio program combines high impact body weight exercises and uses no equipment.
  • LES MILLS GRIT PLYO – Combining the principles of plyometrics and power agility training, this program utilizes an exercise bench to build a powerful, agile and athletic body.
  • LES MILLS GRIT STRENGTH – This workout combines jumping exercises with agility training to increase explosiveness and build a lean and athletic body. Using a weight bar, weight plates and a bench, this program blasts all major muscle groups.

“LES MILLS GRIT helps time-starved people get in a great workout that rapidly improves athletic capability, burns fat and increases power and agility,” says Randy Drake, Vice President of Business Development, Les Mills. “With the visionary support of 24 Hour Fitness, Les Mills can confidently say we are advancing our mission to create a fitter planet.”

By adding LES MILL GRIT to the full range of free group fitness classes already offered by 24 Hour Fitness, members now have another solution for getting fit faster. LES MILLS GRIT is taught by highly skilled coaches, backed by scientific research and set to motivating music. Each workout is updated every quarter to keep the moves fresh and the results coming. Research conducted at Penn State University found that LES MILLS GRIT sessions resulted in significant increases in oxygen consumption and strength, and decreased triglycerides and body fat, compared to moderate intensity exercise.
