Katherine Z. Luecker, Vice President of Lincoln Aquatics of Concord, California passed away January 27, 2015 after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer.  She was 55 years old.

Kathie was a prominent figure in the Aquatics community for over 32 years. Her passion for Aquatics was evident by her vision for products to help pool operators, her fun loving personality extended not only to customers, product manufacturers, swimming pool designers, and to competitors alike.

Kathie and her brother Charlie purchased Lincoln Aquatics in 1987 from their father William Luecker. In 2006, they also acquired the Southern California branch of Lincoln operated by their uncle, Ed Little. In 2014, the company celebrated its 60th Anniversary.

Kathie was a graduate of Oregon State University (1983) and first started her career at Lincoln as a Regional Sales Manager, where she was responsible for the Pacific Northwest region (1983- 2000). She then moved to the corporate office in Concord, CA as Vice President (2000-2015). Kathie enjoyed immensely her contact with customers, whether on a pool deck or at a trade show. She was a great listener and took the time to take note of each customer’s needs, tips they had for products, and for the overall improvement of the Aquatics industry.

A major accomplishment that made Kathie very proud was her involvement as one of the founding members of the Association of Aquatic Professionals (AOAP). This Association is the premier professional group dedicated to the Commercial Pool Operator and Aquatic Professional.  This association was founded in 2011 and continues to grow and serve the Aquatic community.

Kathie also participated in many Aquatic groups associated with the National Park & Recreation Association, state level Parks & Recreation Associations across the country, the World Water Park Association, and the International Health & Racquet Sports Association (IHRSA), among others. In 2011, Kathie was presented the Industry Leadership Award by the World Water Park Association.

Kathie is survived by her brother Charlie Luecker, his wife Laurie Luecker, nephews Geoffrey Luecker (Stephani), Michael Luecker, Jason Luecker (Kayla), and Brandon Luecker.
