BROOKINGS, S.D. – June 10, 2015 – Emporia State University has asked Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture and install a new LED video display and audio system for Welch Stadium on campus in Emporia, Kansas. Installation will take place this summer before the football season kicks off this fall.
“Emporia State Athletics is excited to partner with Daktronics on what will be a great addition to Welch Stadium,” said Kent Weiser, Emporia State University athletic director. “A project like this will transform the game-day experience for our fans and our student-athletes, and will be used by other areas of our University. The quality and history of Daktronics makes us confident the Dennis Shogren Videoboard will be a first-class upgrade.”
The display on Dennis Shogren Scoreboard will measure more than 19 feet high by 39.5 feet wide and will feature 15HD pixel layout for excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility to provide Hornets fans with a great view from any seat in the stadium. It also features variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image across the entire display or to be zoned into smaller windows to show any variety of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information, graphics and animations, and sponsor messages.
A Sportsound 1500 audio system, which will be integrated with the video system, will also be added to the stadium. The system provides full-range sound reproduction and delivers clear and intelligible speech, in turn providing a powerful audio experience for fans.
In addition to the equipment installation, the Hornets will also receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services. This content will consist of any mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens and venue announcements at the request of the university.
