A PTFE Fixed Roof Tension Fabric Structure Will Adorn The Iconic Multi-Purpose Facility. New Mosaic Stadium Will Be The Home Of The Saskatchewan Roughriders Of The Canadian Football League
DALLAS, TX – (November 9, 2015) – FabriTec Structures, LLC, North America’s leading design/build contractor specializing in tension fabric structures, will design/build a fixed PTFE tension fabric structure roof to cover grandstand seating at new Mosaic Stadium, a 33,000 capacity multi-purpose facility which is the first phase of the Regina Revitalization Initiative. The new stadium, will be expandable to 40,000 to accommodate large events such as the Canadian Football League Grey Cup championship game.
FabriTec Structure’s scope of work includes the design/build of a tension fabric roof as well as design-assist with the steel superstructure. HKS is the lead designer on the new stadium project while PCL will provide overall design build services.
The new stadium design was conceived in order to give fans a better experience by providing 360 degree access and lowering almost 70% of the seats to at or below grade.
Weather elements were the biggest influence on design and helped shape the new fixed roof which will cover approx. 130,800 sf of surface area with approx. 123,300 sf of plan area of fabric. Because the area of Regina has a humid continental climate with warm summers and virtually no dry season, architectural PTFE fabric membrane was chosen as the roofing material for its translucent properties which will allow maximum day lighting into the stadium, but keep fans relatively cool by providing optimal shading.
FabriTec Structures is a major player in the design and construction of sports arenas around the world. Some of the most notable tensile membrane roofing they’ve completed includes: BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada; Chivas (Omnilife) Stadium, Guadalajara, MX; and the London Olympics Stadium, London, England.
