Regulatory & Risk Management Summit

SILVER SPRING, MD (December 2, 2015) – U.S. Consumer Product Safety Chairman Elliot F. Kaye will deliver a keynote address at the 2016 SFIA Litigation, Regulatory & Risk Management Summit (LR2MS), February 1-2, 2016 in New Orleans. Chairman Kaye will cover a variety of topics that may include the Commission’s current initiatives and regulations that are directly impacting American consumers and the sports and fitness industry.

“SFIA is privileged to have Chairman Kaye speak at the 2016 Litigation, Regulatory & Risk Management Summit,” said Tom Cove, SFIA President and CEO. “With his commitment to consumer safety and having played a direct role in several major subjects impacting our industry, the Chairman is ideally suited to educate our stakeholders on the current focus areas of the CPSC that could affect our members’ bottom line.”

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products under the agency’s jurisdiction. Over the past 40 years, the agency’s work has resulted in a decline in the rate of deaths and injuries associated with consumer products. Chairman Kaye was sworn in as the 10th Commissioner of the CPSC on July 30, 2014, and will serve a six year term expiring in October 2020.

Lawyers, in-house counsel, risk managers, import/export personnel, regulatory compliance personnel, and chemical content compliance staff from across the sports and fitness industry will convene for the 2016 SFIA Litigation, Regulatory & Risk Management Summit (LR2MS) to further their understanding of the changing landscape of legal risk and regulatory threats while earning Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credits.

The agenda for the 2016 LR2MS includes topics such as helmets and concussions, the tug of war between marketing and legal exposure, technological advances in anti-counterfeiting and cyber security. Early bird registration rates expire December 4, 2015, and space is limited. To learn more about the 2016 LR2MS and register, please visit www.sfia.org/lr2ms.
