Applications Accepted Until June 1
Colorado Springs, Colorado, April 26, 2016 - The National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®) is currently accepting applications for 24 scholarship and fellowship grants within the aquatics field, each between $1,000 - $2,000. Certified Pool/Spa Operator® Certification holders, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows looking for additional support and funding, must apply by June 1, 2016.
To be considered for one of 14 scholarships, applicants must be an active Certified Pool/Spa Operator®, NSPF Instructor, or the immediate family member of an active CPO® Certification holder or NSPF Instructor and submit a completed application package. To apply to receive one of ten fellowships, the applicant must be enrolled full-time and pursuing an advanced academic degree or post-doctoral research at an academic institution.
The NSPF Scholarship Program was founded to honor public swimming pool and spa operators. These professionals have pursued further education to better protect public health after achieving the NSPF Certified Pool/Spa Operator® (CPO®) Certification.
NSPF fellowship applicants are encouraged to conduct research on how to reduce risks associated with recreational water activities. Alternatively, research can focus on and document the health benefits of aquatic activities.
Both fellowships and scholarships are awarded for the fall semester of each year, and recipients will be notified on or before August 1, 2016.
NSPF has always supported the growth of the aquatic industry and scholarships are just one of the many ways that the organization gives back to the community. A scholarship recipient hailing from Michigan was given an opportunity to travel outside of her home state to learn more about the industry. “As a graduate student, it was a great opportunity and learning experience for me. I cannot thank the NSPF enough,” Kourtnie Nelson praised.
Recipients come from all around the world as well. Katarzyna Ratajczak of Poland learned about the NSPF Fellowship from NSPF CEO, Thomas Lachocki, at the 2014 World Aquatic Health™ Conference. “I was talking about the costs of me coming to the US and he suggested that I apply for the fellowship. The application process was rather simple…I would recommend anyone to apply,” stated Ratajczak.
In the last 10 years, the 501(c)(3) non-profit has awarded $194,000 through scholarships and fellowships.
