New York, NY – Draymond Green, the heart and soul of the 3-time NBA champion Golden State Warriors, is teaming up with Blink Fitness to help spur economic development and build healthier communities in his home state. Green has partnered with fellow Michigan native and experienced financial professional, Tom Shumaker to bring 20 premium-quality, value gyms to communities to Michigan and Illinois. The first of Green’s Blink Fitness franchises will be opening in Warren, Michigan.
Green is passionate about building healthier and stronger communities in Michigan and throughout the Midwest. According to the CDC, 45 percent of youth in America do not have access to parks, playgrounds or community centers, limiting opportunities to exercise. Green believes access to premium-quality gyms at affordable prices with Blink Fitness will improve the quality of life for people in Warren.
“Every community should have access to clean and affordable indoor spaces to get fit and unfortunately, there are too many places that don’t have any options. I know this personally. Growing up in Saginaw, there were no gyms and in fact, I never set foot in a proper gym until my freshman year at Michigan State. That’s why our focus has been on providing Warren and similar communities across the Midwest with a better option for physical fitness, to improve community health for people of all ages,” said Green.
The new facility located in the Hoover 11 Center at 26475 Hoover Road will be approximately 15,000 square feet of space. Construction is expected to begin in early 2019, with a projected opening date in the second quarter of 2019.
