Core Health & Fitness, a global leader in commercial fitness equipment and solutions, today announced the successful completion of its acquisitions of Fitnessmith, based in Florida, and Comm-Fit, headquartered in Addison, Texas.
These acquisitions represent the next phase of Core's strategic growth initiative, building on the company's acquisition of Aktiv in 2025 and further expanding its direct vertical market sales coverage across the United States.
Together, these investments demonstrate Core's commitment to strengthening its market position, expanding its customer reach, and delivering a more comprehensive range of commercial fitness solutions.
Building on the Foundation Established with Aktiv
Core's acquisition of Aktiv in 2025 marked an important step in the company's strategy to expand its capabilities and reinforce its position in key commercial fitness markets.
The addition of Fitnessmith and Comm-Fit represents a natural progression of that strategy, creating additional opportunities to serve customers directly across important vertical markets, including hospitality, multifamily housing, corporate wellness, education, and other vertical commercial fitness environments.
By combining the strengths of these businesses with Core's established global brands, manufacturing capabilities, and resources, the company is developing a more integrated sales and service platform designed to support customers from the initial point of sale through installation, ongoing service, and ultimately the trade-in and replacement of end-of-life equipment.
Expanding Direct Sales Coverage and Customer Capabilities
Fitnessmith brings an established commercial fitness distribution business with strong customer relationships, equipment expertise, and installation and service capabilities. The acquisition broadens Core's direct market coverage and provides opportunities to accelerate growth across multiple commercial fitness segments.
Comm-Fit, based in Addison, Texas, brings a significant regional presence, extensive sales and service experience, and a proven ability to deliver top-tier commercial fitness equipment and comprehensive facility solutions. The acquisition expands Core's direct sales coverage in Texas and surrounding markets while enhancing its ability to serve customers through localized expertise and support.
Together with Aktiv, these organizations strengthen Core's ability to provide customers with a comprehensive solution, from facility planning and equipment selection to installation, service, and ongoing support.
Core remains committed to its established independent dealer and distribution partners, recognizing their important role in supporting both new and existing customers and expanding the company's market presence.
Michael Bruno, CEO: Building on a Strong Foundation
"The acquisitions of Fitnessmith and Comm-Fit are two more examples of Core building upon an already strong foundation of manufacturing capabilities, industry-leading brands, and talented people to make our company even stronger and more versatile in the fitness marketplace," said Michael Bruno, Chief Executive Officer of Core Health & Fitness.
"These investments are part of our long-term roadmap for the future, and we are not done. We will continue to pursue opportunities that strengthen our business, expand our capabilities, and position Core for sustained growth.
"I am excited and honored to lead both our existing team and the talented individuals joining the Core family. I also want to personally thank Joey Osborne, James Drake, Zach Greenspan, Nick Nolan, and all of our team members who worked tirelessly to bring these acquisitions across the finish line. Their dedication, collaboration, and commitment have been instrumental in making this next chapter possible.”
Joey Osborne, President: Expanding Our Direct Vertical Market Strategy
"With the acquisition of Aktiv last year, we established an important foundation for expanding our direct vertical market sales capabilities. The addition of Fitnessmith and Comm-Fit represents the next phase of that strategy and another significant step forward for Core Health & Fitness," said Joey Osborne, President of Core Health & Fitness.
"Our vision is to build the strongest and most comprehensive commercial fitness organization in the industry. These acquisitions are not simply about expanding our geographic footprint. They are about bringing together exceptional people, established customer relationships, and complementary capabilities that allow us to serve the market more effectively.
"By combining the local expertise and customer relationships of Aktiv, Fitnessmith, and Comm-Fit with the strength of Core's global brands, product innovation, and resources, we are creating a powerful platform for sustainable growth. We see tremendous opportunities to expand our presence in key vertical markets, strengthen our customer partnerships, and deliver an even greater level of service and support.
"Most importantly, we are investing in the future of Core. We have an ambitious vision for where this company can go, and these acquisitions demonstrate our commitment to making that vision a reality.”
Investing in People, Partnerships, and Future Growth
A central component of Core's acquisition strategy is preserving the relationships, expertise, and entrepreneurial cultures that have made these businesses successful.
The company intends to build on the strengths of Aktiv, Fitnessmith, and Comm-Fit while providing access to additional resources, an expanded product portfolio, and opportunities for continued growth.
With a portfolio of industry-leading brands, including StairMaster, Star Trac, Nautilus, Schwinn, Throwdown, Wexer, and Gym Rax, Core is positioned to support customers across a broad range of commercial fitness environments.
These investments further reinforce Core's long-term commitment to strategic growth, operational excellence, product innovation, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
