Charlotte-based business opens first franchise-owned studio in Tennessee

CHARLOTTE, NC – RockBox Fitness – the state-of-the-art fitness franchise that combines boxing, kickboxing, and functional training into high-energy group workouts – has opened its very first studio in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The new studio is located at 1720 Old Fort Parkway. The 5,000-square-foot studio is owned and operated by local power couple, Craig and Wendy Lee Capurso. The RockBox Fitness of Murfreesboro is the first of several that the couple plan to open over the next couple of years. The new studio will be equipped with top-of-the-line surround-sound system, mood-altering lights, and will be the first RockBox studio that will have a child day care center attached so that parents can get fit while their kids play.

“I believe in group fitness,” Craig said. “It’s motivating to have other people beside you who are working their butts off. Their efforts light a fire inside of you that will push you harder than you thought you could go. RockBox is a like a fight club in a night club, it’s a workout experience that is unmatched.”

Prior to becoming an owner of a RockBox Fitness studio, Craig was deep into the fitness community as a former International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) competitor and brand ambassador for Bodybuilding.com. Since leaving the IFBB sport, Capurso has become a representative for other fitness supplement lines, a judge for a local fitness philanthropy in the community, co-founded and developed a software that utilizes personal data to create customized fitness plans, and launched an online fitness program. Craig’s entrepreneurial spirit and fitness knowledge combined with Wendy Lee’s passion for the community and customer service make this a winning team.

Founded in 2017 and franchising since early 2018, RockBox Fitness was built to avoid the number one problem with any fitness program – boredom. The studios feature all the boxing equipment and heavy bags one would expect for a boxing- and kickboxing-based workout, plus an array of functional training tools  kettle bells, battle ropes and sleds (elliptical and treadmill machines need not apply). In addition, the studios are equipped with high-end sound systems to rock the tunes that keep members pumped and pushing hard. Color-adaptive lighting is also used to cue another level of psychological motivation. When the lights change, so does the intensity.
