SOURCE: Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code

Changes reflect member feedback after last Vote on the Code Conference

Decatur, Ga., November 15, 2019 – The Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC) has made changes to the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) update process, which is now underway. The changes are based on participant feedback after the last update cycle and are designed to help increase opportunities for member engagement and discussion. Specific changes include:

• An expanded timeline for change request submission, which opened after Labor Day and runs through January 6, 2020.

• An increased timespan for members to submit comments on proposed changes to the MAHC, including:

  • o The period when change requests are under review by the Technical Review Committee
  • and still being edited;
  • o The period after change requests have been reviewed and finalized by the Technical Review Committee but before the start of the Vote on the Code conference, so that member comments may be included as part of discussions about change requests at the conference; and
  • o The period after the conference but before voting begins to influence voting.

• An increase in the percentage of “yes” votes required to pass a change request to at least 60%.

• A requirement that all change requests must address any potential cost impact on the industry.

• Designation of Industry Change Request Content Liaisons who will review change requests in their area of expertise and alert other colleagues in their sector about the change requests that need member attention and sector participation in the review process.

Sixty-eight change requests for the next edition of the MAHC have already been submitted to the CMAHC and are available to review on the website at https://cmahc.org/view-change-requests.php.
