The University of Cincinnati athletics department announced the creation of an advisory council made up of Bearcats alumni and letterwinners. The goal is to increase student-athlete alumni engagement with the current administration, current student-athletes and fellow alums.
According to Go Bearcats, the advisory council is the result of a years-long review of the former C-Club program. Now, the advisory council will focus on communication, connection, celebration and commitment.
“Alumni are the lifeblood of our programs, and their continued engagement is essential to our success in the Big 12,” director of athletics John Cunningham said. “Hundreds of former Bearcats poured their hearts into this university, and they remain an integral part of our athletics family. Launching the C-Club Advisory Council is an important step forward, and I’m excited to see it grow as we strengthen the bond between our alumni and our current student-athletes.”Â
The C-Club advisory council is made up of 32 former student-athletes from 18 sports, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, track and field, volleyball and lacrosse.Â
Members will have direct communication access to both coaches and the athletics directors, as well as club-wide communications regarding alumni events like homecoming. Networking events and opportunities through the Student-Athlete Development Academy will also be available. Members will be offered a C-Club tailgate and hall of fame ceremonies as well as exclusive merchandise.Â
Moving forward the University of Cincinnati athletics department hopes to build out additional advisory councils that are sport-specific.Â
“Once an athlete – always a Bearcat,” says the advisory club.
