Welcome to Fundraising Friday: AB Today's weekly digest of recent developments in development.
The University of Mississippi's M-Club has announced a $1.5 million commitment toward creation of a dedicated third floor spanning more than 12,000 square feet in the new Triplett Alumni Center. Per the university's announcement, the new space will celebrate a broader, more inclusive story of Ole Miss athletics, one that includes national champions in women's golf, College World Series appearances in baseball, Olympic track athletes and rifle champions, among many others. According to M-Club director Jessica Lynch, the decision reflects a collective vision rather than a single donor.
The Triton Regional School District in Massachusetts has received an anonymous donation of $250,000 toward the high school’s track and field and cross-country programs — one of the largest private contributions ever made to an athletics program in the district, according to its Sept. 9 announcement. The district has in turn committed to ensuring that every dollar of the donation directly enhances the student experience, allowing the program to invest in new, innovative, and high‑quality equipment that would otherwise be out of reach. The track and field program will begin by replacing aging high jump and pole vault mats and apparatus, two areas where updated equipment will immediately improve safety, performance and training conditions. These initial purchases represent only a small portion of the total gift. The majority of the funds will be held in reserve and allocated strategically over the coming years as needs are identified by coaches, athletic staff and program leadership, per the district announcement.
