Welcome to Fundraising Friday, AB Today's weekly digest of recent developments in development.
An anonymous $1.25 million commitment to Oregon State Athletics will establish the Wilfred Family Director of Baseball Operations position and support Beaver Football through the Valley Challenge for Student-Athletes. The gift to the OSU Foundation creates the second endowed position in Oregon State baseball history and the third endowed position within the OSU athletics department. It joins the Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach position, currently held by Mitch Canham, and the Wicks-Street Head Men's Soccer Coach position, held by Jared Brookins. Per the school's Sept. 7 announcement, the commitment "represents an investment in both the immediate and long-term success of two of Oregon State's flagship programs, helping provide resources that enhance the student-athlete experience and position the Beavers for sustained excellence in an evolving collegiate athletics landscape."
The United States Tennis Association announced Thursday that it has awarded a $37,500 Tennis Venue Services grant to the the University of Central Florida Athletics Association. The grant was used for the resurfacing of all eight tennis courts at the UCF Recreation & Wellness Center, which also supports the UCF men's and women's tennis programs. The project will also help UCF continue expanding tennis programming through clinics, lessons, camps and other opportunities that engage the general community, including youth and adult players, according to Thursday's announcement.
