Ex-Arkansas RB Sues Insurance Company

A former University of Arkansas running back has filed a lawsuit against an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Rawleigh Williams III retired from football after suffering a neck injury during the football team’s annual Red-White spring practice in April of 2017.

The suit says that the insurance company, Lloyd’s of London, failed to pay out on a $1 million disability insurance policy. Several other defendants are named in the suit, including Lloyd’s underwriters, International Specialty Insurance Inc., and a Prairie Grove, Ark.-based insurance agent.

The suit seeks a jury trial and payment on the $1 million policy, as well as $3 million in punitive damages, court costs and attorney fees.
