The mother of a teenage girl is suing the owner of Modesto Boxing Gym after he was convicted of abusing her daughter.
In a lawsuit, the mother alleges Eugenio Hermosillo began grooming her daughter for sexual abuse starting when she was 13 years old. Hermosillo allegedly gave the girl rides to and from her boxing lessons, which led to Hermosillo raping the girl at the age of 14.

In a lawsuit, the mother alleges Eugenio Hermosillo began grooming her daughter for sexual abuse starting when she was 13 years old. Hermosillo allegedly gave the girl rides to and from her boxing lessons, which led to Hermosillo raping the girl at the age of 14.
The family’s attorney argues that the gym failed to protect the girl from dangerous people, including Hermosillo.
"Childhood sexual abuse and exploitation causes traumatic harm that children suffer for the rest of their lives," said Joseph C. George, the Sacramento attorney who filed the lawsuit on behalf of the girl and her mother.
According to the Modesto Bee, Hermosillo, 47, is currently serving time at the San Quentin State Prison after being convicted of committing lewd acts with a child of 14 years old and having unlawful sexual intercourse with a child. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and was forced to register as a sex offender for life.
The plaintiffs, listed as Jane Doe and Mary Doe, are seeking an unspecified damages for the physical, mental and emotional problems the girl has suffered and the costs incurred for her treatment. The case is scheduled for a case management conference Nov. 20.
