Baylor University is suing LSU offensive lineman Sean Thompkins for failing to pay a settlement amount related to breaking his NIL agreement when he transferred.

According to NOLA.com, Thompkins was signed with Baylor through June 30, 2027, but his deal was terminated when he requested to enter the transfer portal one day before it opened in January.

A settlement agreement for $85,000 was reached on May 13, but Thompkins did not follow through with paying the money, according to a complaint.

A demand for payment was sent to Thompkins and his lawyer on Sept. 22, according to an exhibit filed alongside Baylor’s complaint.

The legal dispute comes just days after Ole Miss served LSU edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen, who allegedly broke his revenue-sharing agreement when he transferred. Ole Miss also has sued LSU offensive lineman Devin Harper for buyout dollars associated with his previous contract.

Ole Miss has sought $550,000 from Umanmielen and $400,000 from Harper. In that case, Ole Miss asked LSU for reimbursement on behalf of the athletes but LSU declined, saying it was not a party to the contract.

Thompkins was expected to pay himself or assure he “directs and instructs LSU and/or Playfly Sports to make all such payments to Baylor University, as directed by the Baylor Athletics General Manager.”

Thompkins failed to come through with any of the money for Baylor.

“Unfortunately we now find that Mr. Thompkins has not kept his word, and has made no payment, despite required payment dates having come and gone,” the law firm representing Baylor, Beard Kultgen, said in its Sept. 22 demand letter.
