A high school in Ohio is hoping to promote school spirit with a set of new rules for students attending varsity football games.

Avon Lake High School said the procedures are being put in place to increase safety, give students in grades 5-8 a better view of the action on the field and to enhance the fan experience.

The new rules, published by the Cleveland ABC affiliate, are as follows:

  • Grades K-4: Must be accompanied by a parent in order to enter the stadium, sit with their parents in the home bleachers and remain in the bleachers during the game.
  • Grades 5-8: Sit in the bleachers (The Pier) in the west end zone, remain in the bleachers during the game, released as a group to use the restroom and concession stand during half time. Administrators and staff will oversee this section.
  • Grades 9-12: Sit in the normal student section on the northeast side of the stadium.

Superintendent Bob Scott said there wasn’t any specific incident that led to the rules.
