A former prep athletic director in Connecticut is under investigation on allegations that he misused school funds.

Jonathan Capone, former AD at West Haven High School, has been charged with first-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card.

According to the New Haven Register, a warrant for Capone’s arrest was obtained after “a lengthy investigation by the West Haven Police Detective Division into alleged illegal use of Board of Education Funds, which included conducting numerous interviews, analyzing thousands of pages of receipts, bills and executing a search warrant.”

Capone was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. He was placed on paid administrative leave back in February.

Police raided Capone’s house in March, less than three weeks after Capone was placed on leave and later resigned.

“It’s an ongoing investigation,” said chief of police Joseph Perno, in March, declining to comment other than to confirm that police “were at his house today” and that no arrests had been made. “Until it’s completed, I really couldn’t comment on what was seized,” Perno said in March.
