Video: Ole Miss Softball Player Shoves Umpire

Andy Berg Headshot

An Ole Miss softball player was benched after she appeared to shove an umpire during a 12-6 loss to regional host Arizona in Sunday night’s NCAA Tournament matchup.

It was the bottom of the fifth inning when Ole Miss’ Nyomi Jones attempted to run between the umpires and the coaches who were discussing the strike zone. In video of the incident that was reported by SaturdayDownSouth.com, Jones appears to make contact with an umpire and then extend her arms.

Head coach Jamie Traschel made the decision to bench Jones, but Jones was not ejected from the game.

Ole Miss is now eliminated from the tournament.
