The parents of a 5-year-old girl who drown at an Indiana aquatics center are now suing the city, as well as the girl’s foster parent.
The suit, filed by mother Shantell Marie Woolard and father Thomas Hibbs, alleges negligence on the part of the City of Princeton and foster parent Chelsea Loesch, in the drowning death of Kimber Hibbs at the Princeton Aquatic Center.
Hibbs died on Aug. 3 after an accidental drowning at the pool. Hibbs was in custody of the Indiana Department of Child Services and was taken by Loesch to a party at the pool.
According to the Courier & Press, Thomas Hibbs and Woolard allege that the City of Princeton and Loesch failed to maintain reasonable surveillance of the pool during the party.
The lawsuit says Kimber Hibbs had been removed from the care of her mother on July 15.
Thomas Hibbs and Woolard are seeking financial relief to cover hospital and funeral expenses, as well as other financial relief.
