A former high school softball player has sued her former coach, claiming he spied on the team while they were in the locker room.

The student is seeking $500,000 in damages and was filed against former Bend High School softball coach Rob Ray. The student is claiming invasion of privacy and emotional distress.

Court documents obtained by KTVZ News claim that in March of last year, Ray entered the girls' locker room while players were undressed and would not leave, despite being asked to.

The court documents also stated that two players reported seeing Ray spying on the girls' locker room on at least two occasions.

Bend-La Pine Schools Communications Director Scott Maben provided KTVZ News with a statement:

"Rob Ray was placed on paid leave in March 2024 pending an investigation. After his one-year coaching contract ended that spring, the district elected to not offer him a contract for this school year. We can't comment further on the personnel situation. The district is not a party to the lawsuit."
