A West Virginia high school basketball player is facing assault charges related to his actions during a game earlier this year.
According to WHSV, 18-year-old Gage Ketterman was arrested April 6 after a complaint alleged he intentionally struck opposing players in the head and face with his elbow during a game at Union High School.
The complainant said her son bled profusely and was later diagnosed with a broken nose due to Ketterman's alleged actions druing the game.
Authorities were given a video of the game which showed aggressive contact, which was later determined intentional and deliberate.
MetroNews Television's Aaron Parker reported that police reviewed multiple clips from the game, one where Ketterman “placed both his feet firmly on the floor, reared back and swung his elbow directly into the face of (the victim),” and another that showed Ketterman “swinging his elbow wildly again and striking the back of the head” of the same player. A third clip reportedly showed Ketterman swinging his elbow towards the head of a different Union player.
Ketterman has been released on bond.
